Hollywood Studio District

Hollywood Studio District was once the mecca for the film industry.  In 1911, Nestor Studios became the first film studio in Hollywood. By 1921, the concentration of major studios was known as the Hollywood Studio District. By the 1930s, however, all had left except Paramount, which arrived in 1927.

Hollywood Studio District today boasts an endless amount of smaller studios, entertainment venues, restaurants and shops. There is a mix of single family homes, condominiums and luxury apartments. With easy freeway access and public transportation, this area offers great options with or without a car.

Hollywood Studio District is also home to the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Hollywood Forever welcomes families and visitors to concerts, films, and events each year. Since 2000, Hollywood Forever has partnered with Cinespia to present cinema screenings in the summer on the Fairbanks Lawn, and the cemetery’s Dia de Los Muertos celebration is the largest outside of Mexico. Paramount Studios was built on the undeveloped south end of the original site, where the studio still operates, and the cemetery was listed on the National Register of Historic Sites in 1999.
