In 1981, homes began to be remodeled in ways that started to destroy the character of the neighborhood, including homes that blocked views and unsightly hanging decks. Residents also had some concerns about other issues such as preventing any increase of crime in the area. At that time, the Trousdale Estates Homeowners Association was formed to respond to these issues.
In 1987, the Trousdale Estates Homeowners Association worked with the City of Beverly Hills to enact the Trousdale Ordinance, which was supported by the overwhelming majority of the residents, and still protects the area today. However, the building restrictions have not kept developers and investors from the area. This neighborhood is once again at its height of celebrity homeowners and world wide jet setters.
Today, historically sensitive architecture firms like Marmol Radziner are often called upon to restore and renovate the homes of Trousdale Estates, bringing spectacular new levels of luxury, art and design. The incredible architecture of Trousdale Estates is one of a kind. Certain properties offer jaw dropping views that span from Downtown Los Angeles to the Pacific Ocean, and as far as Catalina Island. Trousdale Estates has been home to many celebrities; Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Groucho Marx, Jennifer Aniston, Vera Wang & Simon Cowell. Just to name a few.
